Helicopter Collision Near Everest Base Camp Claims One Life, Injures Two

Two helicopters operated by Fishtail Air and Air Dynasty collided while attempting to land near Mount Everest on Tuesday morning, killing one person and injuring two others. The crash occurred at about 8:15 a.m. in Feriche village, close to the Everest base camp. A tourist was the fatality, but his nationality has not been disclosed. According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, the aircraft were approaching the landing area from different directions. Solukhumbu assistant chief district officer Bhupendra Thapa confirmed the death of a foreign passenger and reported that one injured person was airlifted to Lukla for treatment, while another was also brought to Lukla by helicopter. One helicopter was traveling from Lukla and the other was returning from Gorakhpur, near the base camp, and both attempted to land at the same spot. The exact cause of the collision is still unclear, but preliminary information suggests that snow-covered helipads may have contributed to the incident.
