A 35‑year‑old man died after jumping onto a moving train in Bhopal on Monday. Police later discovered the bodies of four members of his family—his mother Saraswati (50), wife Somlata (29), daughter Kriti (10) and son Khush (6)—inside their home. Authorities suspect the man first killed his family before ending his life on the tracks. The deceased were identified as Narendra Sahu, his mother, wife, daughter and son. The bodies of the four were found in the residence, while Sahu’s body was recovered from a railway track in Chopra Kalan. The incident was reported after police received an alert through the First Response Vehicle (FRV) system about a person being run over by a train. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Zone 4, Adarsh Kant Shukla said the alert came from the Sukhi Sewania area and that the four family members had died with throat injuries that appeared to be caused by a sharp‑edged weapon. A forensic team examined the house and collected evidence, and the bodies were sent for post‑mortem examination to determine the exact cause and circumstances of death. Police are investigating whether financial difficulties or problems in the family’s business contributed to the deaths. The officer noted that the deceased had been unemployed for several days, had run a small hotel that had closed, and had also tried catering, and that the family’s financial situation is under close review.
