Supreme Court Orders Expelled MLA to Surrender by Dec. 1, He Blames Party Rival for Murder Case

NEW DELHI – Expelled JD(U) MLA Anant Kumar Singh said on Friday that he will surrender to the court by December 1, following the Supreme Court’s order cancelling his bail in the Dularchand Yadav murder case. Singh, who was expelled from the party in June, accused newly elected JD(U) MLC Neeraj Kumar of orchestrating the case against him and of ensuring his name was added to the murder charge.
In a statement to reporters in Patna, Singh said he has faith in the judiciary and will comply with the court’s directions. "We will surrender. The court is not our enemy; whatever the court has decided is acceptable to us. The court will grant us bail again later. We have faith in the judiciary," he said.
When asked when he would surrender, Singh replied that he would appear on the date designated by the court. He confirmed that he would be in court on December 1.
Singh alleged that Neeraj Kumar was behind the legal action against him and had ensured his inclusion in the murder case. He claimed that after being on bail for six months, Neeraj took the case to Delhi and that no notice had been issued to him.
The MLA also accused Neeraj Kumar of being involved in Yadav’s murder and of bringing false witnesses to implicate him. "Neeraj got Dularchand murdered himself. He orchestrated it to immediately implicate Anant Singh and send him to jail. He brought false witnesses from his own locality, made them testify," Singh said.
Singh recounted the events of October 30, 2025, when he was campaigning for votes and his convoy crossed paths with a vehicle carrying Dularchand Yadav, who supported a Jan Suraaj Party candidate. He said he learned of Yadav’s murder only after returning from campaigning in another village.
According to the FIR registered at Ghoswari police station, Singh and his aides allegedly dragged Yadav out of his vehicle, shot him in the leg, assaulted him and ran him over with an SUV. Singh has denied the allegations and previously claimed that Jan Suraaj supporters attacked his convoy first.
The expelled MLA linked his removal from the JD(U) to a dispute with Neeraj Kumar, saying the party leadership acted in support of the MLC. He said the party’s expulsion of him and his wife Neelam Devi was a political vendetta.
Earlier on Friday, the Supreme Court cancelled the bail granted to Singh by the Patna High Court on March 19, 2026, and directed him to surrender before the authorities on or before December 1. A bench of Justices MM Sundresh and PV Varale noted that the High Court had erred in granting bail without adequately considering the gravity of the offence and Singh’s criminal antecedents. The bail order was challenged by Neeraj Kumar, the grandson of the deceased.
The development comes days after the JD(U) expelled Singh and his wife for six years, citing anti‑party activities. Following the action, the Bihar government removed Neelam Devi from her position on the State‑Level Programme Implementation Committee and withdrew her Minister of State rank and entitlement to an official bungalow. The party has also approached Bihar Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar seeking Singh’s disqualification under the Anti‑Defection Law.
