EPFO Launches WhatsApp Service for PF Balance, Passbook, and PMVBRY Support

Union labour and employment minister Mansukh Mandaviya launched a WhatsApp‑based service for Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) subscribers on Sunday. The new service allows users to check their provident fund (PF) balance, view details of their five most recent transactions, access their EPF passbook information, and receive personalised guidance for completing requirements related to the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY). The launch took place during EPFO’s 74th Foundation Day celebration, where Mandaviya also introduced an automatic settlement facility for eligible inoperative EPF accounts.
Under the automatic settlement scheme, subscribers with Aadhaar‑verified inoperative accounts holding balances up to ₹1,000 will receive their dues without filing individual claims. EPFO will automatically verify identity and bank details and transfer the eligible amount to the rightful beneficiaries. Approximately one lakh accounts, totaling about ₹5 crore, are expected to benefit.
During the celebration, seven publications were released, highlighting EPFO’s focus on knowledge creation, institutional learning, legal awareness, and compassionate governance. Mandaviya praised EPFO’s 74‑year history and its ₹32 lakh crore corpus, built through contributions from more than eight crore members, as evidence of the trust placed in the organisation. He urged EPFO officials to continue worker‑centric innovations as the organisation approaches its 75th year, and called for adapting to changing times, building resilience, and evolving processes to improve services for subscribers.
