KTR Calls for Patience as BRS Promises Return of KCR to Address Telangana Farmers’ Drought

BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao urged farmers to wait another year, saying the party would return to Telangana and K. Chandrashekhar Rao would become chief minister to help them. He said BRS would keep fighting for farmers’ rights and pressure the Congress government, which he accused of causing the drought with reckless administration aimed at defaming KCR. Speaking at the Rythu Garjana public meeting in Adilabad on Sunday, KTR claimed the drought was created by Congress, noting that Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, which had nearly twice the rainfall deficit, were not experiencing similar conditions. He said the Congress could not blame El Nino for the situation. KTR demanded that every farmer receive ₹60,000 per acre, covering the three instalments of Rythu Bharosa withheld by the Congress and the investment assistance due for the current Yasangi season. He called on the Congress to take responsibility for the drought‑like conditions across Telangana, alleging that it deliberately released 750 TMC of water from the Godavari to defame KCR. He also criticised the government for neglecting canal work on the Chanaka‑Korata project, weakening the power sector, damaging Singareni through alleged coal irregularities, and failing to protect industries. KTR questioned the closure and dismantling of the CCI factory in Adilabad and the alleged shifting of Telangana industries to Gujarat. He described the Congress and BJP as ‘partners in neglect’ and criticised the BJP‑led Union Government for not providing national projects, medical and nursing colleges, and major educational institutions to Adilabad. Earlier, KTR had extended financial assistance of ₹1 lakh each to the families of five children who died in a recent fire accident at Adilabad’s RIMS hospital, on behalf of BRS.
