Bengaluru Airport Visitor Finds Chicken in Vegetarian Biryani, Calls for Investigation

A passenger at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) reported that a vegetarian biryani he ordered from Taste of India in Terminal 1, between gates 16 and 17, contained chicken. The customer, Piyush Agarwal, posted a video on X showing him confronting the restaurant manager and asking for an investigation by FSSAI, the airport, and other authorities. Agarwal said the dish was billed as vegetarian, that he and his family, who are strictly vegetarian, had unknowingly eaten the non‑vegetarian portions, and that he was still charged the full bill with no refund. The incident was quickly acknowledged by Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL), which said it was investigating and would not comment until the probe was complete. Kathhiravan Radhakrishnan, director of operations at HMSHost Services India Pvt Ltd, which runs the restaurant, stated that the matter was a grave concern, that meat was indeed found in the dish, and that an internal review was underway to determine how the error occurred. Neither the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) nor the Karnataka Food Safety and Drug Administration provided comments on the case.
