DStv Kenya Unveils Four New Packages, Cutting Prices for Existing Subscribers

By Local Forecaster

DStv Kenya announced that from 5 November 2026 its six current packages – Lite, Select, Sports, Premium, Access and Compact Plus – will be replaced by four new packages. The new lineup is Starter at KES 750 per month, Select at KES 1,500, Sports at KES 3,000 and Ultimate at KES 7,300.

Each new package is priced lower than the old one it replaces. Premium subscribers will save KES 4,400 a month, while Access subscribers will see the largest reduction, with Starter costing about half of today’s Access price. Starter is described as the former DStv Access.

The new packages form a tiered ladder: each higher tier adds channels to the lower one. Starter contains 117 or more channels, including SuperSport Kickoff and SuperSport La Liga. Select offers 149 or more channels, adding M‑Net Movies+, Stars, Legends, Nickelodeon, CNN, WWE and selected Premier League and Champions League matches. Sports provides 159 or more channels and promises all Premier League and Champions League games. Ultimate, the top tier, has 180 or more channels and adds Formula 1, MotoGP, Grand Slam tennis, major golf tournaments, SuperSport rugby and cricket, M‑Net’s series channel and Discovery Channel.

The same four packages and prices apply to DStv Stream, the app‑only version that requires no dish or decoder.

On the day the changes take effect, MultiChoice will also launch SuperSport Swahili, a 24‑hour sports channel with Swahili commentary for Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. The channel will be available only on Sports and Ultimate.

DStv will offer discounted decoders and hardware bundles from 2 November 2026 to 28 February 2027, though the prices have not yet been released.

The announcement does not address the status of Lite or Compact Plus subscribers. Lite currently costs KES 750, the same as Starter, but it is unclear whether Lite users will automatically move to Starter. Compact Plus subscribers pay KES 7,300, the same as Ultimate; they may either remain on their current package or be moved to Sports, which would reduce their bill by KES 4,300.

DStv has not specified whether the transition will be automatic or whether customers must take action. In South Africa, the switch was automatic, but Kenya has not confirmed its approach.

At the end of June 2026, DStv Kenya had 259,047 active satellite subscriptions. Subscribers on Premium, Compact, Family or Access should see a monthly savings of between KES 700 and KES 4,400, depending on the package they are moved to. Football fans will benefit most, as the new Sports package includes both Premier League and Champions League matches for KES 3,000, a KES 4,300 reduction from the current Compact Plus price.

Customers on Lite or Compact Plus are advised to contact DStv before 5 November to confirm which package they will receive and the new cost of their subscription.
