EC Still Unresponsive to RTI Request from Former Commodore

Commodore Lokesh K Batra (retd) said on Tuesday that the Election Commission has not yet replied to an RTI application he filed on September 25. The request asked for details of actions taken to address grievances raised by two ECs and for copies of related files, including notings. The RTI status on the EC’s website shows “32 day” and remains “in-progress,” even though the 30‑day statutory deadline has passed. Batra questioned why the EC is silent and what it might be hiding. He also sought the complete set of records of issues and grievances raised by ECs SS Sandhu and Vivek Joshi. On September 24, in a separate RTI to the cabinet secretariat, Batra requested copies of the EC’s communications, details of steps taken, and file notings. He received a response on October 19 and the documents and file notings on October 22.
