Colin Farrell Foundation Grants $10,000–$50,000 to 16 U.S. Organizations to Support Adults with Intellectual Disabilities

Actor Colin Farrell launched the Colin Farrell Foundation in 2024, inspired by his son James, who has Angelman syndrome. The foundation’s mission focuses on education, awareness, advocacy and innovative programs to help individuals and families living with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Its first donation was recorded in August 2024, followed by an inaugural fundraiser in Chicago in December 2024.

By 2026, the foundation had awarded grants of approximately $10,000 to $50,000 to 16 organizations across the United States. The grants were selected from 236 applications through an independent review by Sayrs Consulting. The chosen projects aim to improve independence, inclusion and quality of life by addressing gaps that arise when young people with disabilities transition from school‑based programs, often around age 22, to adult services.

The 16 recipients work in areas such as accessible housing, vocational training, recreation, life‑skills development and community participation. Examples include Bluebirds Farm in North Carolina, which provides inclusive employment for young adults with autism; A New Leaf in Oklahoma, which offers integrated housing and vocational services; and Independence Landing in Florida, which develops culinary workforce training and residential opportunities.

Other recipients include Golden Heart Ranch in California, which uses gardening to build skills; the Ability Center of Southern Nevada, which operates an adaptive fitness center; Jacob’s Chance in Virginia, which offers inclusive sports; and Community Access to the Arts in Massachusetts, which supports artistic expression.

Several organizations focus on housing models and coordinated support, such as L’Arche Chicago, Sweetwater Spectrum in California, Tall Tales Ranch in Colorado, The Next Step Programs in Pennsylvania, Villa Esperanza Services in California, Equip Services in Alabama, Emory Valley Center in Tennessee, Many Hands Lifesharing Community in Michigan, and SNACK and Friends in New York.

The foundation’s grant program emphasizes affordable shared housing, inclusive employment, accessible technologies and partnerships among public agencies, private organizations and nonprofits. It represents a national effort to strengthen community support for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and to provide families with additional resources as their children transition into adulthood.
