Litton Das hit a ball pitched outside leg stump that flew from the Academy Ground nets to near the Media Block, a trademark shot played with ease. The right‑handed keeper‑batter showed no visible signs of discomfort, though it was his only big hit during a nearly hour‑long net session at the Academy Ground in Mirpur on Sunday. Returning from injury, Das batted cautiously, facing throwdowns, off‑spinner Nayeem Hasan and net‑bowlers. After a few deliveries he moved to the non‑striker’s end to stretch. Spin bowling coach Mushtaq Ahmed, who was overseeing the spinners’ session, stepped in as a temporary batting mentor. Heading into the Mirpur Test, Litton’s availability remains the only major point of uncertainty for Bangladesh. He suffered a hip‑joint injury right before the tri‑nation series due to the heavy workload of long spells behind the stumps and at the crease against Afghanistan in the UAE. The injury ruled out the regular captain, and Bangladesh endured a dismal campaign without him. Another Test series looms, and with World Test Championship points at stake, its importance is paramount. Bangladesh desperately need a fully fit and in‑form Litton. Even two days before the squad announcement, team management had concerns over his status. He was ultimately included, though his place in the playing XI hinges on how comfortable he feels on the field. After missing Saturday’s session, Litton rejoined practice on Sunday and went straight into batting. However, he was not seen taking part in any wicket‑keeping drills – a routine he often skips in training anyway. According to BCB medical sources, Litton requires no further specialised observations. Having cleared his medical tests, he will now incrementally step up his training intensity following adequate rest to reach full match fitness. Should Litton fail to make the cut, Jaker Ali Anik stands ready, having also spent time training in the nets. Meanwhile, Tawhid Hridoy will be in contention if Bangladesh decide to field an extra batter at the expense of a bowler. Even if Litton plays solely as a specialist batter, the management will need to adjust the team balance by fielding an additional batter. For now, indications suggest Litton remains on track to be fit for the Mirpur Test.
