Separate LPG Connections Allowed Only for Distinct Families with Separate Kitchens
By Livemint

A tenant and landlord living in the same house can apply for two LPG connections only if they are separate families with separate kitchens. The Government of India’s Gas Control Order permits one LPG connection per household that shares a common kitchen. Therefore, a household sharing a kitchen cannot have more than one domestic LPG connection. If the landlord and tenant occupy different floors or rooms but share a single kitchen, a second connection is not permissible. To obtain a second connection, the applicant must provide documentation of separate living arrangements and kitchens to the gas distributor. The distributor will review the application against applicable regulations and may issue a second connection if eligibility is met. A double bottle connection (DBC) allows two cylinders under one connection but counts as a single LPG connection. Individuals with a piped natural gas (PNG) connection cannot obtain or keep a domestic LPG connection or receive cylinder refills.
