CREDAI Chennai Forms Anti-Corruption Committee and Sets SOP for Reporting Corruption

The Confederation of Real Estate Developers Associations of India (CREDAI) in Chennai has established an Anti‑Corruption Committee and introduced a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to report cases of undue gratification, corruption and coercion in the real‑estate sector. The SOP, issued in a letter to members, aligns with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s zero‑tolerance stance on corruption. It covers matters such as planning permissions, building permits, layout approvals, completion certificates, NOCs, inspections, registrations, utility connections, revenue/land records, statutory certificates and other government‑related services that affect member projects. P. Kruthivas, president‑elect of CREDAI Chennai, said that genuine corruption‑related issues will be formally reported to the Chief Minister’s Special Cell, with copies sent to the relevant ministry and the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti‑Corruption. Complaints may be filed only by persons connected with CREDAI Chennai member developers, including promoters, managing directors, partners, proprietors and authorised signatories of public‑limited companies. The committee name was chosen for its formality and alignment with the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and the Tamil Nadu Directorate of Vigilance and Anti‑Corruption.
