Susan Dell Urges Parents to Claim Children’s Trump Accounts After $6.25 Billion Donation

Susan Dell urged parents and grandparents to claim their children’s Trump Accounts at a press conference with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office. She said, “We believe in you, and we want you to dream big because we know you can make your dreams come true,” adding, “So parents and grandparents, please claim your child's account. These accounts are ready. They're waiting for you, and they have money in them.” The appeal follows the Dell couple’s $6.25 billion contribution to the Trump Accounts program. Michael Dell announced the donation last year, noting that “we’ve seen what happens when a child gets even a small financial headstart – their world expands.” Trump Accounts are new, tax‑advantaged investment accounts for children created under the 2025 federal tax law, the Working Families Tax Cuts. They are a type of traditional IRA under Section 530A of the tax code. Eligible U.S.‑citizen children born between January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2028 can receive a one‑time $1,000 Treasury contribution if the required election is made. The program aims to give children an investment asset early in life so that money can grow through compound returns over many years. The Trump administration describes it as a way to give children a financial head start and encourage wider participation in investing. On July 4, the Dell couple gave $250 each to the first 25 million qualifying American children who signed up for a Trump Account. Michael Dell announced the gesture on X (formerly Twitter), framing it as a “public‑private partnership” that gives the next generation a real stake in the economy. The couple had already pledged more than $6 billion to the program in December, and the July 4 post added a specific contribution to that commitment. The Dell announcement read: “Today, on America’s 250th birthday, Susan and I are celebrating by giving $250 each to the first 25 million qualifying American children who sign up for their @InvestAmerica24 @TrumpAccounts. This makes every child a shareholder in the greatest prosperity‑creating engine the world has ever known—American capitalism. Through this public‑private partnership, we’re giving the next generation a real stake in our economy and a path to the American Dream: education, a first home, starting a business, and building lasting wealth. It unites us all in hope and optimism for every child’s future. Happy 250th Birthday, America!”}
