BJP Leader Nitin Nabin Accuses Rahul Gandhi of ‘Anarchist Mindset’ Amid Delhi Protest

BJP president Nitin Nabin said on Thursday that Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and other non‑NDA members in Delhi were nursing an "anarchist mindset" and attempting to "spread poison" in society, even as they were booked for assaulting police during the INDIA bloc MPs’ protest in the capital on Wednesday. Nabin made the remarks while addressing the media on the sidelines of a visit to the Kashi Vishwanath temple. He repeated his earlier statement that Gandhi was trying to shelter infiltrators by questioning the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, which he described as having a "foreign mindset." Nabin challenged Gandhi to resign as Opposition Leader if he did not trust the Election Commission, which had overseen his own election. "These people are of an anarchic mindset, who only know how to spread poison in society…The elections in Kerala were also conducted by this same Election Commission. In Tamil Nadu, where they came to power from the backdoor, the elections there too were conducted by this same Election Commission," Nabin said. He added that the Leader of the Opposition was protecting infiltrators and that efforts were being made to secure rights for those encroaching on the rights of India’s people by coming from different places. Nabin’s comments echoed the BJP’s campaign messages in Jharkhand, Delhi, Bihar, Assam and West Bengal, where the party has warned that only Indians have a claim over the country’s resources, wealth and land and that outsiders or infiltrators should not be allowed to settle. "The Bharatiya Janata Party will always fight against this attempt to settle people here with a foreign mindset," he said. Earlier on Wednesday, while speaking at a programme in Varanasi that marked the conclusion of a motorcycle yatra as part of the BJP’s Seva Sankalp Abhiyan—a month‑long programme to celebrate Prime Minister Modi’s 25 years in public office—Nitin Nabin said the Opposition leaders were concerned about those who had been snatching the rights of the people of India. His statements come in response to the Opposition MPs’ protest in Delhi, which is demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
