Delhi HC Seeks Response on Petition for Independent Probe of Verma’s Alleged Slap

The Delhi High Court on Thursday issued notices to Deputy Chief Minister Parvesh Verma and the Delhi Police, asking them to reply to a petition that calls for an independent investigation into an alleged slapping incident involving Verma. The incident occurred during a road inspection in Tilak Nagar on September 27. The man who was slapped identified himself as Sahib Singh, who says he is an associate of Tilak Nagar AAP MLA Jarnail Singh and manages the MLA’s social media accounts. The petition, filed by Singh, also requests police protection for him and his family. Justice Sachin Datta directed the respondents to file their replies and a status report. Both Verma and the police have questioned the maintainability of the petition. The court has scheduled a further hearing for November 17.
