The organisers of the rapid and blitz tournament confirmed the development on Friday through an official statement on social media, saying that Gukesh would be unable to participate in this year\u2019s edition of the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To fill the vacant spot, grandmaster Nihal Sarin<\/strong> has been named as Gukesh\u2019s replacement, ensuring that the tournament retains a strong Indian presence in the men\u2019s field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Five-time world champion Viswanathan Anand<\/strong> will return to competitive action as a player after serving as the tournament\u2019s ambassador in recent years.
