The streaming giant announced that Haq<\/em> will premiere on January 2<\/strong>, sharing a poster and caption that highlighted the film\u2019s emotional journey from the confines of home to the halls of justice. The message emphasised courage over compulsion, hinting at the intense legal and personal battle at the heart of the story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inspired by the landmark Shah Bano case of 1985<\/strong>, the film follows the journey of Shazia Bano<\/strong>, played by Yami Gautam, a woman who challenges deeply rooted traditions after being divorced through triple talaq. When she demands monthly maintenance from her former husband Abbas Khan<\/strong> (Emraan Hashmi), her decision sparks outrage from conservative voices within her community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Determined to assert her rights as an Indian citizen and seek equality before the law, Shazia takes her fight to court \u2014 a move that places her at the centre of social, religious, and legal conflict.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Directed by Suparn S Varma<\/strong>, Haq<\/em> is produced by Junglee Pictures<\/strong>, in association with Insomnia Films and Baweja Studios. The film also stars Sheeba Chaddha<\/strong> and Vartika Singh<\/strong> in key supporting roles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
