His remarks came just days after the CJP ended its protest at Jantar Mantar, which had demanded the withdrawal of FIRs against student protesters, compensation for affected families and discussions on education reforms.

Ranka also said, “In the last two months, what we have achieved in Delhi, I feel that this is the biggest and most successful movement of the country after the farmers’ movement (2020-21).” He asserted that there is “a lot of anger” against the Modi government. “The same anger did the job of furthering the movement of CJP. And the same anger forced the government to bow down,” Ranka said in a fuller version of his speech shared by social media channel The News15 and others on Facebook.

Video clips of Ranka’s speech were shared by pro-government right-wing handles that saw in it a “plot to overthrow” the Modi government, drawing comparisons to Gen-Z protests in Nepal and Bangladesh in recent years.

The CJP team, which included chief spokesperson Saurabh Das, met farmer leaders at the SKM convention, announcing that students and farmers will stand together to surround the Modi government. The CJP demanded the complete withdrawal of FIRs filed against student protesters and raised concerns regarding a recent Supreme Court interim order, warning that authorities could misuse it to maintain legal cases against protesters.

They asserted that action should only be taken for separate criminal cases, not for staging protests. Highlighting previous support received from farm leaders like Rakesh Tikait and Gurnam Singh Chaduni during Jantar Mantar demonstrations, the CJP issued a fresh ultimatum to the government. They warned of launching fresh street protests if their original demands were not met.

The agitation was called off on July 25 after the government agreed to several demands, including the resignation of then Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the withdrawal of FIRs against protesters, compensation for affected families, and discussions on education reforms.

As both SKM and CJP function as key pressure groups dealing with government policies, student leaders urged the administration to fulfill its original promise regarding complete case dismissals. The outreach signals a wider agitation as the outfit presses for the withdrawal of cases against protesters and presses for broader policy reforms.

The meeting between CJP leaders and farmer representatives marks a significant development in the post-protest landscape, with both groups exploring possibilities of coordinated action on issues ranging from education reforms to farm policy. The convergence of student and farmer movements could potentially reshape the opposition landscape as both groups seek to build on the momentum gained from recent protests.

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka has called for unity across groups to oppose the BJP-led NDA government, urging farmers, students and youth to work together to “surround the Modi government from all sides.” Ranka made the statement while addressing Samyukta Kisan Morcha’s (SKM) all-India conference in Delhi on Tuesday, just days after the […]

[13

post-2689","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-politics
["GET
