The FMCG major’s consolidated profit attributable to shareholders fell approximately 3% year-on-year to ₹2,673 crore from ₹2,756 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year, while standalone net profit declined to ₹2,631 crore. However, the year-on-year comparison was affected by a one-time tax credit recorded during the previous-year quarter, which had increased the earlier profit figure. Excluding exceptional items, the company said its underlying profitability improved, indicating that the core business performed more strongly than the headline profit decline suggested. Revenue from operations increased 10.2% to ₹17,149 crore, while consolidated turnover reached ₹17,184 crore. Underlying sales grew 10%, evenly supported by higher volumes and pricing, marking HUL’s strongest sales growth in 13 quarters. Underlying volume growth stood at 5%, showing that customers purchased more products despite inflationary pressure and uncertainty affecting household spending. EBITDA increased 8% to ₹3,947 crore, but the EBITDA margin narrowed by 40 basis points to around 23% as higher input, advertising and operational costs outweighed part of the revenue growth. The company said commodity-price volatility remained a challenge and warned that inflationary pressures could continue in the near term, particularly because of geopolitical developments affecting energy, transportation and raw-material markets. The Home Care business delivered the strongest performance, posting 14% underlying sales growth on demand for fabric-washing products, detergents and household cleaners. Beauty and Wellbeing recorded 12% growth, supported by premium hair-care, skin-care and cosmetics products, along with continued expansion of the Minimalist portfolio. Personal Care grew 4%, mainly through pricing, but volumes remained under pressure because elevated palm-oil prices increased the cost of producing soaps and skin-cleansing products. The Foods division registered 7% underlying sales growth, helped by coffee, nutrition products, packaged foods and ready-to-drink beverages. Boost crossed ₹1,000 crore in annual turnover, while premium tea, coffee and international sauce formats continued to gain consumer interest. HUL Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Priya Nair said India’s underlying demand environment remained stable despite global geopolitical uncertainty and added that the company continued to invest in stronger brands, innovation, premium products and wider distribution. Improving rural consumption and growing demand for premium consumer products supported sales during the quarter, although rising costs limited the benefit reaching the bottom line. The company expects FY27 to perform better than FY26 as its portfolio and distribution-channel transformation initiatives begin contributing at a larger scale. It has maintained its medium-term consolidated EBITDA-margin guidance of approximately 22.5% to 23.5%. Nevertheless, the sustainability of future profit growth will depend on movements in palm oil, crude-linked materials, packaging and freight costs, as well as rural demand, currency fluctuations and the company’s ability to increase prices without weakening consumer demand. Overall, HUL’s results presented a mixed picture: reported profit and margins declined, but double-digit sales growth, rising volumes and stronger operating earnings showed that demand across its core consumer-goods portfolio remained healthy.

Hindustan Unilever Limited reported a decline in quarterly profit for the April-to-June period of FY27 as higher raw-material prices, commodity volatility and increased operating expenses placed pressure on margins, even as demand for household, beauty and packaged-food products remained resilient.
